Marcus Dean Neal, 64, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 30, 2016, surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was born on August 15th, 1951, in Palestine, Texas.

Throughout his life he visibly demonstrated extraordinary generosity and compassion. Whether regaling people with tales of times past or lending his heart to those in need, Marcus gave of himself entirely. He will be remembered for his larger than life personality, passion for history and sports (especially Palestine Wildcat and UT Longhorn athletics), and unwavering commitment to his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Kelly, stepmother Essie, sisters Melodie (Paul), Ange (Tony), & Mary, brother Tommy (Cherie), daughters Stacey (Kevin), MaRanda, & Sara, four adoring grandchildren Ashley, Anna, Jordan, & Emmett, and nieces & nephews Rainey Dawn, Miriah, Heather, Victoria, Gwendolyn, Ceris, David, & Christen.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home Chapel with The Honorable Bascom W. Bentley, III officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, July 5 2016, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
