Virginia Alice Black Mell, 93, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Givens Estate.

A native of Anderson County, Texas and had resided in Haywood County for 20 years prior to moving to the Givens Estate ten years ago. She was the daughter of the late George Henry and Dora Alice Gaines Black and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Paula I. Mell, who died in 2003. Virginia was a dedicated parent.

She is survived by a son, John Mell and his wife, Helena, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; and four grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be held at Green Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Tammy Bales officiating. Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
