James “Jimmy” Albert Lockey – PHS 1951

James Albert Lockey (Jimmy) was born on Nov. 3, 1932 in Palestine, Texas, and died Feb 10, 2016 in Miami, Florida at the age of 83. He was predeceased by his father, Edwin Morris Lockey I, mother, Odell Elrod Lockey, sister, Mary Elizabeth Lockey Triplett, and brother, Edwin Morris Lockey II.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years (Monetta Alexander Lockey), daughters (Jackie Clayton and Jamie Kee), son-in-law (Bob Clayton), grandchildren (Ashley and Nathan Browning, Warren and Marion Kee, and Robert Clayton), two great-granddaughters (Jessica Moses and Abigail Clayton), four great-grandsons (Daniel Browning, Charlie Cox, and Conner and Jacob Clayton), sister-in-law and husband (Pat and Phil Jumonville), and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He attended A&M in College Station and graduated from Sam Houston State Teachers College. In 1955, he began working for Atlantic Richfield Oil Company in Odessa, Texas, moving to Dallas in 1957. He retired after 30 years service in 1985. He loved East Texas and enjoyed returning there to visit with his many friends and relatives.
Jimmy was involved in a wide variety of interests and activities including hunting, fishing, archery, accuracy casting, woodworking, model airplanes, physical fitness, RV camping, and traveling. The one he and Monetta enjoyed the longest was square dancing. He formed many long lasting friendships there. Jimmy led a full and happy life.
Memorial services will be on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 2:00 at Gonzalez Funeral Home, Mesquite, Texas.
