Annie Belle Thomas Owens went to meet her Lord and Savior on June 13, 2016. She was loved and will be missed by everyone who ever met her. She was born in Palestine, TX. on December 22, 1923 to John Lewis Thomas and Nina Collier Thomas and attended Palestine schools.
On June 1, 1947, she married the love of her life, Will Richard Owens. They lived in Broyles Chapel Community where Annie was an active and dedicated member of Broyles Chapel Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a tireless help mate to Will Richard as they raised their four children on their farm. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Will Richard Owens, her parents, John and Nina Thomas, sisters Dorothy Thomas, Edna Thomas, Erma Thomas Smith, and brother Don Thomas.
Left to mourn her is brother John Thomas of Palestine, her children Gene Owens and wife Terri of Corsicana, Carol Shaw and husband Doug of Huntsville, Cathy Michael of McKinney and Candace Stevens and husband Homer Dwain of Palestine. The joys of her heart were her grandchildren Leslie Michael Bean and husband Alan of Calgary, Canada, Shannon Shaw of Austin, Brenton Michael and wife Brooke of McKinney, Rusty Shaw of Huntsville, Ryan Michael of Chandler, AZ., Shane Owens of Galveston, Will Allen Stevens and wife Leslie of Oakwood, Hollie Stevens Castaneda and husband Jonathan of Palestine, Kayla Stevens of Palestine and step-granddaughter Lisa Gardner Timm and husband Matt of League City. She was blessed with ten great-grandchildren that she adored.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday at Broyles Chapel Baptist Church, 130 Anderson County Road 425. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, 207 S. Magnolia, Palestine. Per her wishes, pallbearers will be her grandsons and son-in-laws.
The Owens family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Palestine Regional Medical Center, Solaris Hospice, and the Cartmell Home for the compassionate and expert care you gave our mother. Please know that she appreciated every kindness shown her.
