Memorial services for Debbie Shepherd, 61, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Ross Dickerson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Debbie passed away Friday, April 26, 2014 at Hospice of East Texas Home Place in Tyler, after a long illness.

She was born June 24, 1952 in Palestine to Leland Carr and Madeline Miller Carr.

Debbie was a Christian and grew up attending the First Baptist Church. At the time of her death she was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church. Debbie overcame many obstacles in her life. She was and will always be an inspiration to everyone that knew her.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger Shepherd; her beloved son, Chad Thompson and his father Ronald Thompson; and sisters, Lisa Yorgensen and Sharon Carr.

Left to celebrate her life and miss her forever are her son, Timothy Thompson and his devoted wife Kasie who was with her until the end. Debbie is also survived by her sisters, Karen McCoy and husband Jim of Houston, Cindy Penland and husband Marcus of Elkhart, Tammie DeFore and companion Jerry Strahan of Elkhart; brothers, Larry Carr and wife Marilyn of Houston, Ronnie Carr and wife Kenna of Waco; numerous nieces and nephews, along with many lifelong friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be Danny and David Carr, Jeremy and Greg Jenkins, Wade McCoy, Robbie Yorgenson, Leland, Randy and Kurtis Carr.

Condolence calls will be held one hour before the memorial service. Burial will be held on a later date in Roselawn Park.
