Vera “Jeanette” Gaddis entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013 surrounded by loving and caring family members. She was born in Tennessee Colony, Texas on May 24, 1936. She moved to Gretna, Louisiana at the age of 18 to the home of her brother and sister-in-law. She made her home after retirement in Covington, Louisiana. She retired from McDermott Inc. after more than 25 years of service. A lover of animals, Vera occupied her retirement years pet and house sitting for several close clients and traveling when possible. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Richard Gaddis and Vera L. Gaddis; brothers, Johnny M. Gaddis, Melbur W. Gaddis and Harold E. Gaddis; and nephew, Travis R. Richey. She is survived by her sister-in-laws, Vera L. Gaddis and Nettie M. Gaddis; nieces, Glenda Gaddis Allen (Scott), Beth Ann Richey (Jim) and Paula K. Gibbs; nephews, Wade A. Gaddis, Daryl R. Gaddis and James R. Gaddis (Elizabeth); great-niece, Robyn K. Marshall; great-nephew, Westley R. Gaddis; and great-great-niece, Alexis L. Marshall A funeral service for Vera will be held at 10 a.m. Saturady, May 24, 2014 at the Tennessee Colony Church in Tennessee Colony with John Wisener officiating. A private family Burial will take place immediately afterward at the Tennessee Colony Cemetery.
