H. Paul Woolverton, 85, of Mart passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, in a Waco nursing facility. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, at the Mart Church of Christ in Mart, with Tom Keener officiating. Burial will follow at Criswell Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Littlepage Funeral Home in Mart.
Paul was born February 8, 1929 in Palestine, Texas, the only child of Paul Raymond and Winnie Coleman Woolverton. He grew up in Palestine and finished high school there. He served four years in the United States Air Force, stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi and James Connally Air Force Base in Waco. While in Waco, he met and married his wife of 62 years, Wanda Stone, of Mart.
He worked 10 years for the Palestine Telephone Co. and 24 years for General Telephone, now known as Verizon Communications, in Baytown, Texas as a Central Office Equipment Repairman. He retired from Verizon in June, 1990, and he and his wife moved to Mart to be near relatives. He was a member of the Mart Church of Christ for 24 years.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda of Mart; daughter, Sue and husband, Rodney Fuentes, of Liberty Hill, Texas; daughter, Judy Woolverton of Mart; son, Mike Woolverton of Mart; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Jo Ann Stone of Mart; his cousins, and also nieces and nephews by marriage.
Paul was a wonderful husband and father and will be sorely missed.
