Graveside services for Jean Davis Dickson, of Palestine, Texas, are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, April 27, 2013, Palestine City Cemetery, Palestine, Texas, with the Rev.David Luckert and Chaplain Kenn Sommerville officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine, Texas. Mrs. Dickson passed from this life on April 24, 2013, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 86, now residing in her Heavenly home after having been a loyal and faithful servant.

She and her twin sister June Davis Freeman were born on June 7, 1926, in Palestine, Texas, to Mr. & Mrs. Strode V. Davis. She and her twin attended schools in Palestine, and after high school attended Nixon Business College. During WWII, the twins volunteered in the Servicemen’s Club of Palestine, Texas, which served many of the boys in uniform from all branches of the military as they passed through the railroad terminal. Mrs. Dickson retired in 1984 from Anderson County Abstract Company, where she was an abstractor for over 30 years. After retiring she served on many committees at Grace United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church, and continued to be an active member. Mrs. Dickson was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Erle Dickson Jr., sister Dorothy Davis Manley, twin sister June Davis Freeman, and brother, S. V. “Buddy” Davis Jr.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Davis & Tammy Dickson, Troup, Texas, grandson Jeremy Hosto & wife Bethany, two great-grandchildren Jolea & Thomas, of Hamel, Illinois, sister and brother-in-law Ann & Jim Miller, Tyler, Texas, brother Andrew Davis & Geneva Giertz of Palestine, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Condolence calls will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Bailey & Foster Palestine, Tx.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Heart to Heart Hospice, Tyler, Texas, Grace United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Palestine, Texas.
