Randel Bartlett Pickel died on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the age of 62 following a short illness. He was a recent resident of Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth, Maine.

Randel was born June 15, 1950 in Palestine, Texas where he lived for 45 years.  Had it not been for Downs Syndrome, he would have been in the PHS Class of 1968.

Following the death of his mother, Randel moved with his brother Michael to Maine, where he spent many happy years working in the Seedlings (greenhouse) Program at the Morrison Center in Portland, Maine.  A lover of music and art, he particularly enjoyed dancing, and was an avid artist who was never far from his pencils and paper. His artwork was exhibited for several years state-wide through Very Special Arts of Maine. He was a jolly, loving man, with a great memory of facts and events, who frequently surprised people with the breadth of his knowledge. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Randel was predeceased in death by his mother Theretta (Bartlett) Pickel and his father Robert H. Pickel both of Palestine, Texas. He is survived by his brother Robert Michael Pickel of Falmouth, Maine and many loving family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth, Maine on Friday, April 12 at 10 a.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Phillips Episcopal Church in Palestine, Texas on Saturday, May 4th at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial in the Palestine City Cemetery.
