Peggy Ferguson Neal Siegel 1955

02 / 23 / 1937  –  02 / 06 / 2013

Peggy Neal Siegel-75 went peacefully to be with our Lord on February 6, 2013, with her family by her side, after a brief battle with cancer.
Peggy was born to Jack Helvering and Helen Amason on February 23, 1937. Clyde Ferguson and Helen Amason raised Peggy and Clyde’s daughter Kay, in Palestine, Texas. She graduated from Palestine High School in 1955. Peggy went to the “The University of Texas” (at Austin) where she met the love of her life, Joe Lee Neal. She married Joe on September 7, 1957, until his death in 1982. They had three daughters, Patti, Nancy, and Becky.

Peggy worked for NASA until 1967, when their family moved to Odessa, Texas. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service until retiring in 1986. Peggy enjoyed playing the organ at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church for several years, playing for weddings, and solo and ensembles for the youth. Peggy and Joe loved to dance and play bridge together.

In 1989, Peggy married Jim Siegel in Odessa, Texas. He preceded her in death in 2005. They enjoyed creating Faberge eggs together, working at the Permian Playhouse, as well as other community services.

Peggy is preceded in death by Jack Helvering, her parents Helen and Clyde Ferguson, both husbands Joe Lee, Jim, several aunts and uncles, and her grandson Baron.

Peggy is survived by Patti, and her daughters, Jenna and Kaylyn; Nancy, her husband Mike, their children Darin and Aubrey; and Becky, her husband, Bill, their children, Jakob, William, Scotland, and Joe. Her sister Kay and husband Joe Bryan of Tennessee, a cousin Ruth Ann and husband Tommy, of Tyler, a nephew, Mike and his wife Sandy, of Lindale, and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to extend our undying gratitude to Home Hospice and the Hospice House staff for their dedicated care. And a special “thank you” to Christi, Chris, Aneisha, and Kelli, who made our mother laugh and smile while they took such special care of her.

Peggy chose to be cremated and a private graveside service will be held at a later date in Tyler, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Home Hospice, 516 N. Texas, Odessa, Texas, 79761 or Hospice House, 903 N. Sam Houston Avenue, Odessa, Texas, 79761, or a charity of your choice. The family appreciated all your love and support during our mother’s trails of life.
