W.R. “Bob” Walker, 85, of Longview, passed away Jan. 30, 2013. He was well known and beloved by many business associates, friends and family. Bob was born in Palestine, Texas on July 2, 1927.

He moved to Longview in 1965 and founded Delta Solvents and Chemical Company, whose home office was in Longview with branches in Dallas, Houston, and other cities in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Existing businesses include Delta Space, Inc. He served on numerous executive boards and was an active member of the community. Additionally, he was a founding member of the Longview Running Club and he continued to run races competitively for over 40 years.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Vern Walker; son, Rob Walker; and four sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by his daughter, Pam Walker of Round Rock; and son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Rita Frederick Walker of Longview. He leaves behind many loving friends and family to cherish happy times.

The family would like to express thanks to Mary Butler and Sylvia Hawkins for the care and assistance they gave to Bob these past many months.

A visitation service will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at Turkey Creek Farm located on FM 2208 in Longview.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Road, Longview, Texas.
