Frank C. Roquemore, 91, passed away on Wednesday, September 5. Frank was born in Palestine on April 14, 1921 to Abb Leroy Roquemore and Ouida Frances Barnes Roquemore. He was a graduate of Palestine High School and attended Nixon Business College. He worked briefly for Humble Oil and Refining Company in Houston before joining the Army Air Corps during World War II. He served in Italy. After returning home, he again worked for Humble Oil and Refining in the East Texas area and made his home in Henderson, Texas. In 1960 he retired from Humble and moved his family back to Palestine where he and his older brother Leroy opened Roquemore’s Mens Store. He ran the store until 1984. In retirement, he took great joy working in his yard and in his family. He loved Palestine and had many stories about growing up here and he was always very interested in Palestine’s history.

Frank was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Bennett Roquemore. They were married for 65 years. He also had three brothers, Leroy, Jack and his twin brother Fred, all of whom are deceased.

He is survived by his children, Susanne Rowe and husband Harry, Melinda Ruman and husband Peter, Frank Roquemore, Jr. and wife Rena; and six grandchildren, Shelley Lugon-Moulin, Harold Rowe, Emily Webre, Caleb Roquemore, Ashley von Eschenbach and Courtney Chisholm. He also was blessed with nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Rowe, Caleb Roquemore, Harry Rowe, Pete Ruman, Julien Lugon-Moulin, Chad Webre, Larry Roquemore, Abb Roquemore, Rick Roquemore, David Roquemore and Matt Roquemore.

Arrangements are entrusted to Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home with visitation on Friday, September 7 from 6 to 8 pm. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 8 at 11:00 am at Roselawn Park with Rev. Bruce Hay officiating.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Alec Law and the wonderful and caring staff at Trucare Living Center who took care of our Dad with such kindness and compassion.
