Funeral services for George A. Wright, III, 67, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Herrington / Land of Memory Chapel with Dr. Tom Rousseau officiating.  Burial will follow in Palestine City Cemetery under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mr. Wright died Sunday in a Temple hospital after a lengthy illness.  He was born August 28, 1930, in Palestine.  He graduated from Palestine High School and Rice University.  He has lived here all of his life and was a member of First Christian Church and as an engineer for the Merchant Marines.  Mr. Wright was a Shriner, 32nd degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rite, VFW Post No. 3907, Monterrey Lodge No. 217 and the Free and Accepted Masons of California.  He also served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Ware.

Survivors include a daughter, Bronwyn Darragh of Kilgore; two sisters, Henrietta McLelland of Houston and Lillian Gosnell of Dallas; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Alexander, J.E. McClellan, Jr., Brian Stephens, Jack Shaver, Marcus Tyer and Dan Cordell

Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. tonight at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
