Services for Emmett Shelton, Jr., 78, of Palestine will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Dr. Jeff Cover and Rev. Doug Blanton officiating.  Burial will be in Land of Memory Cemetery.

Mr. Shelton died Friday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.  He was born July 18, 1923 in Palestine to Emmett Shelton, Sr. and Irma Seagler Shelton.  Mr. Shelton was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church and Robinson Sunday School Class.  He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3907.  Mr. Shelton was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II for four years and serving three years during the Korean War.  He was manager and co-owner of Shelton’s Implement Company for many years.

Mr. Shelton is survived by his wife, Martha Woodridge Shelton of Palestine; daughter, Jackie Miller of Palestine; sisters, Gladys Griffith of Palaestine, Lucille Frazer of Boerne, June Hodges of Duncanville and Carol Hardgrave of San Antonio; and a granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Kim Cole, Keith Cole, Brian Pendland, Tony Cucuzza, Kevin Clark, Bill Jones, Frank Fulgham and Steve Quick.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of VFW Post 3907 and Danny Dean, Jeff Doran and Russell Swartz.

Condolence calls will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
