A memorial service for Palestine native Sam B. Ray, 58, currently of Kaneohe, Hawaii and Greensboro, N.C. will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Cahapel. Remains will be interred in Chambers Cemetery.
Mr. Ray died in Straub Hospital, Honolulu, after a lengthy illness.
He was born and reared in Palestine, son of Sam B. and Lula Mae Skeen Ray. He graduated from Palestine High School in 1945 and the University of Houston. He was employed by AT&T Technologies of Greensboro and was working in Honolulu as a consultant to the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Jean Ray of Kanoehe, Hawaii and Greensboro, N.C.; and a sister, Jerry Ray Hall of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Condolence calls will be received from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family request memorials be made to the American Cancer Society for research of melanoma cancer.
