Services for Grace (Jimmie) Radford, 94 of Palestine will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Palestine City Cemetery with Rev. David Ludkert officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine.
Mrs. Radford died Tuesday at Park Place Nursing Center in Tyler. She was born December 15, 1905 in Palestine to railroad engineer James Patrick and Lucinda Schnorr Henry. Mrs. Radford was a retired railroad clerk for Missouri Pacific Railroad in Houston. She graduated from Palestine High School in 1923 and Conway Business College. She was a 65 year member of the Eastern Star Palestine Chapter No. 395, former member of the Harvey Women’s Club. She was honored by the YMCA as being the first female secretary for YMCA.
Mrs. Radford was a member of First United Methodist Church of Palestine, Grace Sunday School Class and Wesleyan Service Guild. She was the last of survivors of the Henry family consisting of four sisters and one brother. She married Ralph Stanley Radford, a native of Tiverton, Devonshire, England on April 15, 1925 at First United Methodist Church of Palestine.
Mrs. Radford was preceded in death by her husband in March of 1962; sisters, Elenora Griffin, Edna Clevenger, Gertrude McCutchen and Mary McKown; and brother Clifford Henry.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. George (Jimmie Patricia) Tarry of Tyler; one grandson and four great-grandchildren.
Condolence calls will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Palestine.
