Services for Otto Platt, 76 of Palestine will be a 1 p.m. Wednesday in Bailey & Foster Chapel with Rev. Matthew McBryde officiating. Burial will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine.
Mr. Platt died Monday at a Palestine hospital. He was born February 8, 1922 in Palestine. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps having served in World War II. He was retired from Glass Containers Corporation as a machinist. He was a member of the GMPPAW Union. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church and Paletine Oddfellows Lodge.
He was preceded in death by sister, Jane Platt, brother, Charles Platt and grandchildren, Steven Ewers and Jaynna Ewers.
Mr. Platt is survived by wife, Doris Platt of Palestine, daughters, Jane Goode of Tyler, Lanita Boerm of Lindale and Melinda DeFore of Palestine; brother, George Platt of Palestine; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Ewers, Jason DeFore, Larry DeFore, Don Boerm, Jimmie Hairell, Jeremiah Goode, Richard Jones and Eddie Platt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Holliday, Floyd Harris, Mitch Holliday, Ken Callaway and Pete Phillips.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memory Lane Baptist Church in Palestine.
