Memorial services for Bobbie Barton, 74, of Tyler are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, July 27, at Pleasant Retreat United Methodist Church, Tyler, with music director Otis Naron and Doug Dorris officiating.

A reception in the church welcome center will follow the services.

Bobbie passed away July 24, 2012, at The Hospice of East Texas after a brief illness.

She was born Nov. 12, 1937, to the late Dale and Rachel Neel in Palestine. She attended schools there and graduated from Palestine High School.

After moving to Tyler in 1963, she attended East Texas Barber College and cut hair in the Tyler area for 40 years. Barbering was her passion and life. She had many long-time customers who were friends near and dear to her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Neel.

Bobbie is survived by husband, Pete Barton of Tyler; children, Dennis and Linda Smith, and Keena Brooks, all of Tyler; siblings, Virginia and Marlon Cooper of Palestine, Ruth Mitchell of Athens, Carol and Butch Wise of Bryan, and David and Georgeanne Neel of Oakwood; grandchildren, Cody Smith of Kilgore, Brittany Smith of Tyler, Jake Brooks of Chandler, and Logen Barton-Waterman of Tyler; and many nieces and nephews.
