Funeral services for W.R. Petty, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey Funeral Home with Rev. Morris House and Rev. Walter Ward officiating. Burial will be in the New Addition Cemetery.
Mr. Petty is a veteran attorney of Anderson County and he died Tuesday at the Palestine Nursing Home. Mr. Petty had been ill for several months before his death. The son of Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Petty, both deceased, was born and reared on a farm near Tennessee Colony. He attended high school in Palestine and returned to the farm for several years after graduation. At the age of 25, Mr. Petty enter the law profession serving his apprenticeship here under the late B. H. Gardner, a former district judge and an outstanding attorney in his time. After being admitted to the bar. Mr. Petty was elected county attorney, serving in 1928 and 1929. He practiced law in Anderson County for fifty years before illness forced him to retire last winter.
Survivors include brother, J.A. Petty of Dallas and several nephews and nieces.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
