Services for Virginia Parsons, 80, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Herrington / Land of Memory Chapel with Rev. David Luckert officiating.  Burial will follow at Palestine City Cemetery under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mrs. Parsons died Thursday at Trinity Valley Medical Center in Palestine.  Mrs. Parsons was born November 2, 1918 in Palestine.  She graduated from Palestine High School in 1936 and Nixon’s Business College.  She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Palestine.  She retired after many years of service with with the U.S. Navy contract department.  She was a member of the Harvery Women’s Club, Newcomer’s Welcoming Club, and the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Parsons is survived by her husband, Doug Parsons of Palestine; sisters, Mary Mollard of Palestine, Muriel Rickerson of Hemet, California; and Nell Bettis of Lindale.

Pallbearers will be Clarence Bice, Adolph Shaver, Ed Cordell, Roy Knollenberg, Wallace Southerland, and Gary Palmer.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Methodist Men at the Grace United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
