Services for Marie Sawyer Norton, 71, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Roselawn Park with Dr. Jeff Cover and Rev. David Price and Rev. E.E. Blankenship officiating.  Burial will be under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mrs. Norton died early this morning at Memorial Hospital.  She was a social worker for the Texas Department of Health with 30 years of service.  She was valedictorian of the 1938 Mid-Class of Palestine High School and an honor graduate of Texas Woman’s University.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, immediate past president of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and a member of Harvey Woman’s Club and Palestine Newcomers Club.

She is survived by her husband, Don Norton of Palestine; daughter, Dr. Donna M. Droby of Dallas; and her sisters, Dr. Ophelia Denton of Palestine and Frankya Cooper of Elkhart.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Anderson County Humane Society or to the Presbyterian Children’s Home and Service Agency.
