Services for Dan Miller LaRoe, 73, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the LaRoe home with Revs. Paul Goodrich, J. Alton Jones and Richard Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Prairie Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. LaRoe died Friday in a Temple hospital following a lenghty illness. He was born in Palestine on January 17, 1913, son of Dan and Clara May Miller LaRoe. Mr. LaRoe was a member of the Brushy Creek United Methodist Church, a retired major in the U.S. Army, a veteran of World War II, a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Dallas Petroleum Club, a 1934 graduate of Texas A&M University and a retired chairman of the board of DeGolyer & MacNaughton.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Herren LaRoe of Brushy Creek; daughters, Mary Lois LaRoe Lacy of Farmington, Arkansas and Clara LaRoe Edwards of Brushy Creek; son, Dan Miller LaRoe, Jr. of Brushy Creek; sister, Mary LaRoe Alexander of Wimberly and eight grandchildren.
