George M. Lester, 53, Palestine native and veteran of World War II, died at 12:50 a.m. today in the VA Hospital at Houston.  The body is being brought here for burial in New Addition Cemetery following a service at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Bailey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roy Moser officiating.

A graduate of Palestine High School in the class of 1928, he had served in Europe during World War II and was a member of the Howard Gardner Post, American Legion.  He worked as an electrician and made his home in Galveston.

Survivors are his widow of Galveston; son, George Nick Lester of Hitchcock; brothers, Horace and Newell Lester, both of Palestine; and sisters, Mrs. Harold Dietz and Mrs. Dorothy Lilly of Palestine and Mrs. Evelyn Evans of St. Louis, Missouri.
