Services for Doris Hanks Johnston, 92, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Roselawn Park with Rev. Gregory A. Megill officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mrs. Johnston died Monday at Palestine Regional Medical Center. She was born July 8, 1908, in Emhouse to Alpheus and Ethel Elrod Hanks. Mrs. Johnston was reared in Elkhart. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. She graduated from Palestine High School and attended Sam Houston State University. She was a member of the United Methodist Women Association, was a teacher of the Grace Bible Class and was a member of the Gray Ladies of Memorial Hospital, and worked with Associatted Charities.
She was preceded in death by sister, Frances Owens; brothers, George W. Hanks and Herman L. Hanks.
Mrs Johnston is survived by her husband, Luther C. Johnston of Palestine; daughters, Anne J. Chennault of Palestine and Susan J. Comte of Slocum; sister, Bill Singleton of Palestine; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Condolence calls will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
