Services for Mary E. Day, 75, of Tennessee Colony were at 3 p.m. today at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Mike Glenn officiating. Burial was in Palestine City Cemetery under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mrs. Day died Wednesday in a Tyler Hospital. She was born on November 30, 1921 in Palestine to Walter Phillip and Stephanie Schwab Kaes. She graduated from Palestine High School in 1939 and several beauty colleges. Mrs. Day retired after 46 years as a beauty shop owner and operator. She was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Day of Tennessee Colony; sons, retired Colonel Phillip L. Day of Belton and retired Lt. Colonel Dan Allen Day of Temple; sister, retired Cmdr. Anna Kaes Reynolds of Merced, CA.; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church Youth Group.
