Funeral services for Joe David Davis, 21, of Palestine were held at 3 p.m. today in Hassell & Foster Chapel, with Rev. George Ramsey officiating. Burial followed in Pilgrim Cemetery, Elkhart.
He was found dead about 9 a.m. Wednesday morning on the Old Boston Road. He graduated from Palestine High School in 1967 and attended Sam Houston State University and also Henderson County Junior College. He was a member of the Air Force Reserves, having completed six months basic training on December 10, 1969.
Formerly he was employed by the Missouri-Pacific Railway and also worked at the Independent Ice Company. He was a member of North Jackson Baptist Church.
Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton C. (Jack) Davis, Jr., Palestine; sister, Miss Jackie Davis, Palestine; grandparents, Mrs. Clayton Davis, Sr., Elkhart and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Warren, Palestine.
Pallbearers were Billy Lively, James Henderson, Stan Thompson, Lloyd Starr, Danny Glenn, Dennis Moses, Ronnie Elliott, and David Joe Walton.
