Services for Edward E. Cordell, 73, of Palestine will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Rev. David Luckert officiating. Burial will follow at Palestine City Cemetery.
Mr. Cordell died this morning at his residence. He was born October 22, 1927 in Chattanooga, TN to Herbert Edward and Olline Foote Cordell. Mr. Cordell was retired from Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a commissary manager at the Coffield Unit. He also worked for MoPac for 10 years and at Royal Bank for 13 years. He graduated from Palesttine High School in 1945. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Men’s Bible Class of Grace United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by son, Jeffrey Lynn Cordell in 1959.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita McCann Cordell of Palestine; son, Jimmy Cordell; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Merle D. Smith, M.E. Johnston, Luther Westmoreland, Bobby McCann, Ernest McCann and Billy Joe Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Mallard, Jack Funderburk and the Men’s Bible Class at Grace United Methodist Church.
