Adam Cone, Jr. 1921

Adam Cone, Jr., long active in the oil drilling industry, died in Memorial Hospital here Saturday following a lengthy illness. He was 71. Funeral services are to be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday in the Bailey Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joe Routh and Rev. Foy Moser officiating. Burial will follow in the New Addition Cemetery.
Mr. Cone was born in Palestine on September 3, 1902, son of the late Adam and Susie Belle DuPuy Cone and member of a pioneer Anderson County family shoe residency here dated back to the 1850’s.
He is survived by daughter, Mrs. James L. (Sandra) Cole of Clear Lake City; three grandchildren, James L. Cole, Jr., Cynthia Marie Cole and Jackson Adam Cole, all of Clear Lake; sister, Mrs. L.Q. (Evelyn) Linson of Palestine; brother, Johnson Cone of Palestine; aunts, Mrs. J.O. Monning of Palestine and Mrs. L.E. Gross of Houston; and nephew, Laurin Martis Linson of Portland, Oregon.
Pallbearers will be R. B. Books, R. D. Mallard, M.L. Austin, V.E. Humphrey, J.W. Braly, Paul Thompson, L.M. Patterson and Hoyt Johnston. Honorary pallbearers will be F.L. (Bill) Hillin, Curtis Mann, Bill Converse, Dr. Bascom Bentley, Guy Keeling, Guy Tomkins, M.D. Stewart, Ruel Thompson, Bob Campbell, George Clarence Campbell, Dan LaRoe, Mc L. Ingram, L.A. Bomer, John McDonald, Roy Quarles, A.C. (Boo) Quarles, Howell Mitchell and all other close friends.
