Funeral services for retired Air Force Lt. Col. Nelson Allen, Sr. 63 of 7911 Prestwood Drive, Houston, were held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Hassell & Foster Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Leslie LeGrand of Houston officiating.  Burial was in the New Addition Annex, Palestine City Cemetery.

Mr. Allen died Thursday at his home after a sudden illness.  He was born April 10, 1920, in Palestine, son of the late Hall Allen and Gladys Carpenter Allen.  He served in the Air Force and worked as an attorney in its legal department.  He was a graduate of the University of Texas Law School and was an attorney in Houston.

Survivors include his wife, Dr. Jeanne Nelson of Houston; a son and daughter-in-law, Nelson Allen, Jr. and Carolyn Allen of San Antonio; a brother, Thomas H. Allen of Houston, and a nephew, Dr. T. Harrell Allen of California.

Pallbearers were Jack Davis, Don Craft, David Scoby, Milford Harrison, Verl Vance and Dr. David Phillips.
