Meador Montgomery, born July 21, 1946, left t his world to be with the Lord on June 17, 2012. She was born in Palestine, Texas and graduated from Palestine High School.

She attended two years of college at Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches.

Her early career was primarily with Hart Publishing in Austin, Texas and when her mother became ill, she moved to Palestine to care for her.

There she became the “Girl Friday” of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, bringing her unique style of organization to the law enforcement community.

A particularly significant event for her there was assisting in the area recovery efforts after the Challenger disaster.

Most recently she worked with Encompass Home Health. Officially she was in charge of the billing and payroll, but colleagues will attest she ran everything else as well.

She was preceded in death by Ed and Dottie Montgomery; and survived by her brother, Pete Montgomery and wife Jane.

She was involved in many city projects and good works such as Paint Palestine Pink. Meador was an active member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. She participated in the Alpha program and was called to a mission in Honduras two years ago where she was beloved by all the children in the community.

She depended on her faith and understanding of the will of God to guide her caring and loving heart.

Meador’s door was always open to her many friends. She was generous and giving of  her time and talents, always cooking for and comforting the sick.

Her friends range from the youngest children to the many 80- and 90-year-old residents of town for whom she frequently game parties.

She joyously shared  her wit, talent and humor, and was considered unique by everyone who knew her.

She will surely be welcomed into the reaches of Heaven.
