Services for John D. Mitchell, 63 of Arlington, were held Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Arlington.  Burial was in Arlington.

Mr. Mitchell died Saturday in Arlington.  He was born in Fort Worth on December 15, 1932 to Johnnie Mitchell and Vivian Henderson Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell was a graduate of Palestine High School and the University of Texas in Arlington.  He was retired from Bell Helicopter and was a member of Lamar Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Pattye Mitchell of Arlington; son, Michael Mitchell of Austin; mother, Vivian Beard of Palestine; and brothers, Jerry Mitchell of Palestine and Jimmy Mitchell of Austin,
