Services for Lottie Ruth Dietz, 96, of Palestine will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with Dr. Jeff Cover officiating.  Burial will be in the New Addition Cemetery.

Miss Dietz died Monday at a local nursing home.  She was born in Palestine on January 1, 1900 to Mr. & Mrs. Hugo Roland Dietz.  She received her education in Palestine and later attended a young ladies finishing school in Rochester, NY.

Miss Dietz was associated with her father and three brothers in ranching in Freestone County and was a bookkeeper for Dietz Bros. Grocery & Market, one of the first stores in Palestine.  She also worked as a clerk for Frantzen Bros. Grocery for several years.

She trained and was a licensed vocational nurse for over 10 years at Cartmell Home for the Aged.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Palestine.

Miss Dietz is survived by a niece, Rosemary Dietz Tittle of Odessa; nephews, Brooklyn E. Dietz of Houston, Harold L. Dietz and Eugene M. Dietz, both of Palestine; three great-nieces, four great-nephews; and four great-great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Les Dietz, Glenn Tittle, Hunt Dietz, Bryan Dietz, Ted S. Maffitt and Merle D. Smith.
