Aulvin Lewis “Al” Dean 1951

Aulvin Lewis Dean, Jr. (Al) went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 5,2012 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on November 7, 1932 in Palestine, Texas to loving parents, Alvin L. Dean Sr. and Evelyn Hassell Dean. Al graduated from Palestine High School and served in the U.S. military. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Baylor University and a Master’s Degree from Louisiana State University. Al enjoyed a long career in the oil industry, working as VP of International Operations for Getty Oil Company. He served as a personal assistant to J. Paul Getty. Al traveled extensively across the globe working on numerous special projects for Getty Oil, including the creation and installation of the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, California. He is preceded in death by his parents, aunt and uncle.
His three children survive him; two daughters, Kim (Brian) Dean Martin, of Hallsville, TX Pamela Brewers, of Austin, TX and a son, Kelly (Suzanne) Dean of Grand Prairie, TX, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Al was known for his kind spirit and diplomatic demeanor. He will be lovingly remembered as a gentleman’s gentleman. He made everyone with whom he came into contact feel at ease, rich and poor alike. His family and friends will miss him terribly.
Funeral Service is 9:30 AM, Thurs. June 7, 2012 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at DFW National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wed. at the funeral home.
