Service for Bina Ivy Byrd, 87, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynn Parker officiating.   Burial   will   be   at Roselawn Park.

Mrs. Byrd died Wednesday at Palestine Health Care Center.  She was born in Palestine on Oct 12, 1907, She was well-known in the community as the mortgage loan broker for Aulds, Home and White Mortgage Corp. and Jacksonville Savings and Loan Association.

Mrs. Byrd entered the mortgage loan business in 1947. She also was an agent for The Equitable Life Assurance Society.

In her earlier years, she wrote several short stories and plays, many of which were published and performed. She was a charter member of the Noon Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Palestine, and taught Sunday School for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis V, Byrd. in 1982; and her mother, Nora Leake Ivy.

She is survived by numerous friends.

Pallbearers will be J.L. Hunt, Steve Presley, Dennis Dobbs, Jim Crook, Ross Bryant and Lee Williams.
