Services for Mrs. J.F. “Edith” Grigsby, 92 of Houston, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Roselawn Park with Rev. David W. Price officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. Mrs. Grigsby died Tuesday at Rosewood Hospital in Houston.
A native and long time resident of Palestine, she was born on Oct 18, 1899 to George T. and Eunice Turner Fetters. She was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Palestine where she served on the Altar Guild and was active in other church affairs for many years before moving to Houston. She was a charter member of Harvey Woman’s Club and had worked as a stenographer and secretary for Royall National Bank. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 30, 1977.
She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. J.R. “Margaret” Mottley of Houston and Janet G. Jones of Torrence, CA; sister Edna F. Pearson of Georgetown; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be vestry members of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.
Memorials may be made to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Condolence calls will be received from 5 – 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
