He was the son of James Dunkin and Donna Louise Miles Fryar.  Bobby was a school teacher and coach. He was past president of the Gillespie County Chapter of the Texas State Teachers Association. He was residing in Montalba at the time of his death in a Palestine hospital.

He was survived by his wife, Nelwyn Joy Douglass Fryar, of Palestine; his mother, Donna Louise Miles Fryar of Palestine; one son, Robert Clay Fryar; two daughters, Judy Carol Fryar Jones and Janet Suzanne Fryar Schmitz, both of Palestine; two brothers, James D. Fryar of Garland and Thomas Wilbur “Tom” Fryar of Odessa; one sisters, Shirley Frances Fryar Bolt of Lufkin; and eight grandchildren.
