Graveside services for William Wade Watts, 77 of Sulphur, LA and a native of Palestine will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Land of Memory Cemetery in Palestine. Chapel services were today at Fourth Avenue Church of God with Rev. Cliff Sanders officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA. Mr. Watts died Saturday in a Houston hospital.
Mr. Watts had lived in the Lake Charles – Sulphur area for the last 26 years. He was a former co-owner of Watts-Pumpelly Volkswagen and Watts-Pumpelly Mobile Homes. He was a member and past president of the Downtown Rotary Club and a former member of the executive committee of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of Gideons International, former chairman of the International Student Committee at McNeese State University and a former trustee and chairman of the board of Fourth Avenue Church of God. He also was an avid airline pilot.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Watts of Sulphur, LA; sons, Bill Watts of Houston and Steve Watts of Dallas; brother, George Watts of Ruidoso, NM.; sister, Dixie Shugart of Palestine; stepmother, Bessie Watts of Palestine: and two grandchildren.
