Services for Roy James Thompson, 77, of Palestine will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Memory Lane Baptist Church with Elder Matthew McBryde officiating.  Burial will be in New Addition Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.  Mr. Thompson died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital.

He was born on December 28, 1914 to James Andrew and Sallie Ann Bishop Thompson.  He was a graduate of Palestine High School and a retired plant operator for Stoffer Chemical Co.  He was a member of Memory Lane Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by a son, James Nelson Thompson in 1979 and a brother, Nobel William Thompson in 1975.

He is survived by a son, Roy David Thompson of Fresno, CA; sisters, Edith Lester of Palestine, Edna Burnett of Corpus Christi, Louise Cloud of Baytown and Freddie Bishop of Slocum; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Bill Lively, Cary Beckham, David Thompson, Carlos Lively, J.D. Parker and Lawrence Faulkner.
