Charles Dana Pennybacker 1916

Services for Charles Dana Pennybacker, 95, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Unted Methodist Church with Rev. Bert Bagley officiating.  Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery under the direction of Herrington Land of Memory Funeral Home.  Mr. Pennybacker died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.  He was born in Palestine on June 19, 1897 to Julian and Jennie Pennybacker.  He was an employee of Missouri Pacific Railroad for many years.

Mr. Pennybacker lived here all of his life and graduated from Palestine High School.  He attended Rice University.  He was a veteran of World Wars I and II.  He was a member of First United Methodit Church and was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Palestine Rotary Club.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mona Hargroves Pennybacker.

He is survived by his nieces, Mrs. Thomas J. Baker III and Mrs. Walter Lankford, both of Houston.

Pallbearers will be Rotarians and members of the Men’s Bible Class of First United Methodist Church.

Condolence calls will be received from 7 – 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
