Services for Palestine business woman Mrs. Pace (Margueritte) McDonald 82, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Bert Bagley and Dr. Weldon Morton officiating. Burial will be in New Addition Cemetery. Mrs. McDonald died Sunday at Trinity Valley Medical Center. She was born in Spring on June 15, 1909 to John Thomas and Genevieve Cowart Burnett. She was a 1925 graduate of Palestine High School.
A longtime Palestine real estate broker, she founded Word & McDonald Real Estate in 1945 which became McDonald Real Estate in 1955 and in 1989 became Century 21 Pace McDonald, Inc. Realtors. She was a charter member of Harvey Woman’s Club, a member of First United Methodist Church, the Grace Class and a life member of United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pace McDonald Jr., on February 23, 1971.
She is survived by her son, Pace McDonald III of Palestine; sister, Reba Lou Buttry of Crockett; sisters-in-law, Louise Burnett of Palestine and Pauline Burnett of Grapland; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be Luther C. Johnston, Hoyt Johnston, Bruce Barber, Bill Haney, John Frye, Clifford Bassett, Jerry Joyce and O.M. Harris.
Condolence calls will be received from 7 – 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
