Services for Edward Roscoe Mathews, 67 of Midland, and formerly of Palestine will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Midland, under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Durango, CO.  Mr. Mathews died Friday in Midland.

He was born January 12, 1924 in Palestine to Claude Chesley and Florence Roscoe Mathews.  He graduated from Palestine High School in 1941 and was an airman with a photo reconnaissance unit during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Mathews of Midland; daughter, Carol Lee Simpson of Humble; sister, Claudia Bell of Malakoff; brother, Chesley Mathews of Palestine; one grandchild; and two step-children.
