Services for Bobby Stokes Kennedy, 59, of Elkhart, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Pilgrim Cemetery in Elkhart with Rev. Robert Colley officiating and under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. He died early Saturday morning at Trinity Valley Medical Center. He was born November 8, 1934 in Palestine to Stokes and Laura Ben Parker Kennedy. He was a blacksmith. He was employed by Missouri Pacific Railroad for six years and by the Tellepsen Construction Co. in Houston for 26 years and had been caretaker of Pilgrim Cemetery for the past nine years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean Cochran.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Kennedy, Elkhart; daughter, Suzanne Kennedy Burnie, Dayton, Laura Kennedy Chapman, Grand Prairie; sons, Stewart Nolan Kennedy, Houston, Mark Stokes Kennedy, Austin; and 12 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stewart Nolan Kennedy, Mark Stokes Kennedy, Brett Parker Kennedy, Ross Cochran, Drew Cochran, David Cochran, James Burnie and Doug Bridges.
The family will receive condolence calls at the funeral home from 6 – 8 p.m. today.
