Services for Jesse Edward “Eddie” Jones, 76, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Herrington Land of Memory with Rev. Bert Bagley officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Jones died Sunday at Methodist Hospital in Houston after a brief illness. He was born in Palestine on September 26, 1915 to Jesse Allen and May Ringo Jones. He has lived in Palestine all his life and retired as a freight claims agent with 35 years of service with Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He served in the Army during World War II in the Aleution Islands and was a member of the Veterans of Foreigh Wars.
He is survived by his son, Jim Ed Jones of Deer Park; sisters, Mrs. Jack (Savilla) Schwab and Jean Douglas both of Palestine; brothers, A.B. Jones of Palestine, Fred M. Jones of Little Rock, AR and Bernard B. Jones of Denver, CO; and two granddaughters.
Pallbearers will be Frank Schwab, Richard Schwab, John Schwab, Allen Wacha, Walter Johnson, Glen Lowery, Robert Lane and Chest Matthews.
