Services for John Curtis Huffman, 76, of Waco were at 10 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Waco with Revs. Richard Freeman and W.G. Whitaker officiating. Burial was in Waco Memorial Park under the direction of Wilkerson-Hatch Funeral Home in Waco. Mr. Huffman died Tuesday in a Waco retirement center. A native of Anderson County, he was born October 2, 1914. He attended schools in Palestine and graduated from Sam Houston State Teachers College. He did graduate work at Princeton Univesity. He married Bonnie Jean Wilder on April 2, 1950. She preceded him in death on February 25, 1991.
Mr. Huffman served as a lieutenant in the Navy during World War II and was in the Naval Reserves for 20 years. He lived in the Dallas area from 1950 and 1964, when he moved to Waco. He retired in 1977 from the Veterans Adminstration Regional Office as chief of vocational rehabilitation. He then worked as a land specialist for Jim Stewart Realtors, where he was a member of the Diamond Circle Club for five years. He also was a member of the Top 20 Investment Club and served on the board of directors at Inner City Ministries.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Waco and the Odell Dudley Sunday School class. He also was a member of the Texas Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors and the Federal Land Institue.
He is survey by his daughters, Nancy Webster of Dallas, Sarah Guffey of Dallas and Paula Martin of Texas City; brother, Fred Huffman of Dallas and three granddaughters.
