Services for James “J.R.” Hinton, 66, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Webb officiating. Burial will be at New Addition Cemetery.
He died Monday at a Palestine hospital. He was born in Palestine on September 6, 1927 to Hobert and Robbie Francis Hinton.
He was a conductor for Union Pacific Railroad. Mr. Hinton was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Mart Masonic Lodge No. 636, United Transportation Union and Kiwanis Club. During World War II, he served in the Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Emmons Hinton of Palestine; daughter, Patricia Ennis of Missouri City; son, Robert Farr of New Orleans, LA; sister, Bobbie Jane Denson of Pasadena; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Joe Ed Bunton, Joe Eddie Gough, Danny Walsh, Jim DeFrese, Sam Robinson, Marion Hunger and Jeremy Fall.
Condolence calls will be received from 6:30 – 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
