Gerald D. Gipson died while he was a student at Palestine High School and we do not have any dates at this time.

Services for Gerald Dewayne Gipson, 17, of Palestine, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Andrew Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Enge officiating.  Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.  Mr. Gipson died Mondat at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.

He was born in Palestine to Marvin and Gloria Gipson Allen.  He was a student at Palestine High School, where he played football, basketball, baseball and ran track.  He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Violan and Simon Gipson and Helen Allen.

He is survived by his parents, Gloria Allen of Palestine and Marvin Gipson of Ingleside; brothers, Christopher Allen, Marvin Allen and Marcus Allen, all of Palestine; sister, Regina Harris of Palestine; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Allen of Oakwood; aunts, Clara Moore of Oakwood, Dorris Morning of Dallas and Dorothy Breeding of Ingleside; uncles, Calvin Gipson of Palestine, James Luckett of Tucson, Arizona, Willie Allen of Oakwood, Robert Allen of Waxahachie and Charles Allen of Monroe, Louisiana; and three great-aunts, Edna Johnson of Oakwood, Hannah Newson of Tuscon and Willie Emanuel of Temple.
