Services for Edwin H. Ferguson Jr, 69 of LaPorte and formerly of Palestine will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Colonial Funeral Home in Pasadena.  Burial will be in Palestine City Cemetery later under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mr. Ferguson died Sunday afternoon in St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston.  He was born April 27, 1922 in Palestine to Edwin Henry and Lula Blanche Wylie Ferguson, Sr.

Mr. Ferguson was a member of First United Methodist Church in LaPorte and the Kiwanis Club of Pasadena.  A graduate of Palestine High School, he earned his journalism and history degrees from the University of Texas, and did doctoral work at Stanford University and Texas A&M University.  For 20 years, he was an instructor at San Jacinto College in Pasadena and also instructed at Texas Christian University and the University of Houston.

Mr. Ferguson is survived by his wife, Marguerite Ferguson of LaPorte; sons, Edwin Henry Ferguson III and Philip Carlton Ferguson, both of Houston; a sister, Janie Lou Ferguson of Houston and a grandchild.
