Services for Evelyn Lester Evans, 89, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Rousseau officiating.  Burial will be at Land of Memory.  Mrs. Evans died Monday at Park Place Nursing Home.

She was a lifelong resident of Palestine and was born December 31, 1903 to John Morgan and Rosa Lee Miller Lester.  She retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad after many years as an auditor.  Mrs. Evans was a lifelong member of First Christian Church, a longtime member of the Palestine Order of The Eastern Star Chapter 395, and the Azalea Garden Club.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Harold Lester Dietz, Eugene M. Dietz, Rosemary Dietz Tittle, Mary Ann Lester Turner, Ben Lester, Gay Lester Turner, Jim Lester and George Lester, all of Palestine; and a sister-in-law, Edith Lester of Palestine.

Pallbears will be members of First Christian Church.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
