Services for Frances Avera Evans 67 of Carrollton, were at 1 p.m. Saturday at Roselawn Park with the Rev. Bert Bagley officiating.  Burial was under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. Mrs. Evans died Wednesday at Trinity Medical Center in Carrollton.

She was born February 13, 1926, in Mart to Hardy Richard and Mary Inez Avera.  She received a bachelor of science degree in psychology and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Houston.  She was a teacher at Dime Box High School.

As a member of the American Poetry Society, she won the National Library of Poetry Editors Choice Award and had several poetry pieces published.  She was a former vice-president of the Houston Association of Para-Professionals.  She was an Espiscopalian.

She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Steinman of Carrollton; son, Gary Evans of Austin; sister, Barbara Watts of Houston; brother, Carl Avera of Mart; and five grandchildren.
