Yvonne was born in Tennessee Colony January 9, 1936 to Owen C. and Annie Laura Weems Ward.  After graduating from Palestine High School in 1953, she attended North Texas State College.

While there she married William Richard “Dick” Sligar on November 23, 1955.  Yvonne was gifted with a beautiful singing voice and performed in operas for many years. She passed away after a length illness on April 29, 1999 in Houston and was cremated.

Survivors include her husband Dick and two sons and two daughters.
